Immigration
According to Breitbart News, President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security released over 95,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior last month — a foreign population four times the size of Key West, Florida. In April, Biden’s DHS released about 118,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States and in March, the agency released more than 80,000.
The number of reported migrant encounters along the southern border has once again made Department of Homeland Security history — hitting a staggering 239,416 encounters in May, according to the New York Post. The figure is the highest number of migrant encounters recorded in one month ever and brings the total migrant encounters in FY 2022 to more than 1.5 million, according to the latest data released by Customs and Border Protection on Wednesday. At it’s current rate, Biden will have allowed over 7 million immigrants into the US - both legally and illegally. This is roughly the same population as the state of Tennessee. This is deliberate, unless the next Republican President actually works to remove the illegal migrants and massively reduce legal migration, you will see them radically transform the politics of parts of our country to the left.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Monday that immigrants detained in the United States are not entitled to a bond hearing, a decision that means that the thousands of people with open immigration cases who are currently in federal holding facilities can continue to be detained indefinitely. The high court also ruled that federal courts lack the authority to grant class-wide relief to detainees, meaning if any detainees want to argue in the future that they have a right to a bond hearing, they will need to bring their cases individually. The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to issue a ruling on whether Republican-led states have the authority to defend a rule former President Donald Trump’s administration issued seeking to restrict immigration benefits for individuals deemed likely to seek government aid. (Politico) While this isn’t necessarily a defeat, given the court didn’t make any ruling. The public charge rule denies visa holders the ability to apply for citizenship if they have used any public funds such as welfare without paying them back. Trump implimented it at the end of his term.
The number of people on the Terrorist Screening Database being arrested by Border Patrol has skyrocketed in the past 6 years, reaching 50 so far this year from just 2 in 2017.
Economy
The Wall Street Journal detailed how economists completely missed the mark on inflation. While many economists said inflation couldn’t possibly happen, now most experts agree a recession is on the horizion for the fall and it could take years to fully rebound. If one good thing could come out of a Biden presidency with a Republican House for the next two years is they might come to a consensus to reduce spending - this happened both in 1996 under Clinton and Gingrich and again in 2012 under Obama and Boehner. Slashing spending, reducing the deficit, and stopping the rampant explosion of our money supply could be the only way we rebound long term.
