The nomination of the first black female presidential nominee from a major party was supposed to bring together an Obama-style coalition and increase enthusiasm from black voters. Still, so far, that hasn’t happened.
In fact, black early vote turnout is set to hit a two-decade low. Not since John Kerry ran in 2004 have we seen such low participation for black voters in critical states like Georgia.
Other less competitive states are also seeing the black vote shrink, including New York and Minnesota.
