Texas is once again forced to do the federal government’s job. The Washington Post reported that Texas plans to install floating barriers in the middle of the Rio Grande to block migrants from crossing the river into the United States. The barrier will be created by large orange buoys held together by a cable and anchored in the riverbed. Abbott announced that construction of the barrier would start next month.
The Texas House of Representatives border security bill but rather than just passing them, the Texas Senate is going further by passing their border security measures. The Texas Tribune reported that the three bills would create a border police force, make it a state crime to cross the Texas-Mexico border illegally, and raise the minimum punishment for people convicted of smuggling migrants. The State House is no longer in session, so they have little chance to become law unless the House reconvenes.

DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari gave a scathing indictment of President Biden’s handling of the crisis at the border. Cuffari said that border agents are not being used for law enforcement efforts and primarily provide care and welfare services to migrants before releasing them into the country. (Breitbart News)
New York City is suing nearly half the counties in the state for refusing to take in migrants. NBC News reported, “the suit, filed in state court Wednesday, accuses at least 30 New York counties of seeking to “wall off their borders” to asylum seekers through “xenophobic” executive orders that violate state and federal law.” Migrants enrich liberal cities until they admit that they bankrupt them.
A pair of men in their mid-30s were arrested for plotting to kill border agents. Breitbart News reported that the men posted TikTok videos announcing they planned to overthrow the government and kill border agents for allowing illegal aliens to enter the U.S.
Breitbart News reported that 85 percent of H1-b visas go to Chinese and Indian immigrants. Those two countries have a monopoly on the entire visa program.
Economy
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp continues to develop the state’s economy outside the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the Hyundai Motor Group is ahead of schedule in creating an electric vehicle plant in Bryan County. The county has a population of 45,000, and the plant will create over 8,000 jobs. Other factories are coming to places like Laurens County and Albany County.
The U.S. is experiencing a massive factory-building boom thanks to Biden’s efforts to spur manufacturing. Bloomberg News reported construction spending by manufacturers in the U.S. has more than doubled in the past year, reaching an annual rate of almost $190 billion in April. Manufacturing now accounts for about 13 percent of all non-government construction, the highest share in a data series stretching back to the early 1990s. Trump should have championed this type of policy instead of tax cuts.
