New data from Customs and Border Protection reveals Border Patrol released over 900,000 illegal immigrants into the U.S. in fiscal year 2023 after they were apprehended, including 155,821 releases in September alone.
Venezuelans have surpassed Mexicans as the largest nationality attempting to come to the U.S. illegally. Axios reported that more than 80 percent of Venezuelans coming to the U.S. are coming illegally. They have been motivated to come because of Biden’s reduced separation and offering Venezuelans temporary protected status once they arrive.
The Texas House of Representatives approved an immigration bill that would grant local police the authority to arrest illegal aliens when they enter the country. According to News Nation, any peace officer, including school resource officers, has the power to return undocumented individuals to the port and send them back to Mexico or pursue criminal prosecution.
Mayor Eric Adams is offering the 130,000 migrants living in New York City a one-way ticket to any other destination in the United States. (Axios)
CBS News reported that the Biden administration planned to use 400 hotel rooms in El Paso to start a program that would require migrant families to remain in Texas while asylum officers reviewed their cases. The plan collapsed due to local objections. Why they would try to replicate “Remain in Mexico” in Texas rather than in Mexico as the Trump Administration did is beyond the pale.
