Immigration
According to sources from within the White House, the Biden administration is preparing to repeal Title 42 restrictions that have helped deter migration into the U.S. Title 42 is a Trump-era policy that was implemented in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic to prevent help prevent the spread of the coronavirus and other infectious diseases at the Southern border. According to the Washington Post:
The order has allowed border authorities to bypass normal immigration screening procedures and rapidly expel border crossers to their home countries or to Mexico without affording them a chance to seek humanitarian protection under U.S. law.
The administration’s goal is to lift all pandemic restrictions in May by implementing more border facilities to process more migrants. However, according to White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield, lifting pandemic restrictions – such as Title 42 – the Biden administration will not decide to lift pandemic restrictions but rather the CDC. According to CNBC, Title 42 restrictions will end on May 23.
When Title 42 restrictions are lifted, Homeland Security officials estimate up to 500,000 illegal aliens will cross the border per month – roughly 18,000 per day. (Breitbart News) That’s an estimated 5-6 million in a single year and most will get to enter the interior of the US.
Many congressional Democrats are worried that the lifting of Title 42 restrictions would be an ill-advised decision. While the Democrats are likely to lose the House this midterm cycle, Senate Democrats could still retain the chamber. However, Senate Democrats – such as Sens. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Mark Warner (D-VA) – have been outspoken about their concern about Biden’s decision to lift the “infectious disease” control restrictions. Kelly’s concerns are significant as he represents a Southern border state and is up for reelection in November.
While the Department of Homeland and Security announced that they would be increasing its resources for a “potential increase in the number of border encounters” (among other vague promises), President Biden’s budget proposal to congress actually contains a provision to decrease the number of detention centers along the Southern border. Instead, the administration will supposedly place illegal alien crossers under house arrest and provide them with taxpayer-funded lawyers to avoid deportation. To be fair to border patrol, there is nothing that they can do so long as the Biden Administration continues with their current policies on the border. Without any of the Trump era protections including an effective Remain in Mexico policy and zero tolerance policy, migrants will flow across the border at record numbers.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Biden administration announced that they would make an additional 35,000 H2-B visas available for seasonal workers before the summer hiring season – there were already 33,000 set aside. The previous year, the Biden administration gave out 22,000 H2-B visas. The H2-B visa program allows employers to hire temporary non-agricultural workers to perform labor or service. The H2-B workers primarily goes after jobs that are taken by young people and non-college educated adults. It’s a direct assault on the working-class.
According to Michelle Hackman, refugees who were resettled into the U.S. after October 1, 2021, are eligible to receive 12 months of cash and medical assistance, previously eight months. Because you know, it’s not like we have a massive deficit or trillions in debt.
Economics
Consumer sentiment has deteriorated rapidly to where consumers may be at their breaking point. According to Bloomberg, “energy prices have surged about 26% over the past year, while food costs have jumped by 8%, which is the largest increase since 1981.” Furthermore, 30-year mortgage rates have increased to 4.5 percent, from 3 percent last year.
According to Bloomberg, the average U.S. household will spend an extra $5,200 this year ($433) in consumption compared to last year. This is the tax not only comes from Joe Biden, but from the rapid increase in the amount of money in circulation from the Federal Reserve. Expect interest rates to rise as the Fed tries to get a handle on all the cheap money in circulation but that probably won’t be able to hold off on any economic crisis from happening next year.
Critical Theory
According to Axios, the White House announced that American citizens would have the option to select “X” as their gender on a U.S. passport as of April 11.
President Joe Biden claimed on Thursday that “early” transgender surgeries, hormone treatment, and affirmation are “crucial” for children who identify as transgender. (Daily Wire) The state has literally sanctioned child abuse.
According to the Daily Mail, a school district in a Tacoma, Washington suburb will encourage teachers to consider “race” when disciplining students. The Clover Park School District board approved the new policy in a 3-2 vote on March 14.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, a New Jersey public middle school forced students to watch a video about transgender hormonal therapy – the school did not notify any of the student’s parents. The video featured a transgender activist, Aydian Dowling, receiving hormonal treatment and transitioning. Dowling also reportedly later spoke at a school-wide assembly this year. The school is Peal R. Miller Middle School in Kinnelon, New Jersey.
