Immigration
Since President Biden’s sudden about-face on migrants from Venezuela, tens-of-thousands are stranded throughout Central America. On Oct. 12th, Biden reinstated the Trump-era Title 42 policy to deter Venezuelan migrants from entering the US, but given his previous open border policies tens-of-thousands of Venezuelans sold everything to make their way to the US, The Wall Street Journal reported. Most won’t qualify to enter the US so they have the option of returning home or entering the US illegally. This is where US foreign policy and the Secretary of State should start trying to make a deal with the Mexican government to offer these migrants asylum in Mexico. The nation is wealthier than Venezuela and could absorb these migrants fairly easily.
A study by FAIR found that 5.5 million illegal aliens have been encountered at the southern border since President Biden took office. This is like absorbing the entire population of Finland in less than 24 months. (Breitbart News)
Midterm
With the midterms just days a way, Florida Republicans are out-voting Democrats by 1.5 percent. At this time in 2020, Democrats had out-voted Republicans by 11 points. Florida is quickly moving out of the swing state column and becoming a likely Republican state. This is a very large swing but David Byler explains that early voting is not the best indicator of how an election will turn out. Still, Florida’s long-term trends are towards the GOP.
