In a letter to Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-Texas) (who has an abysmal record on border security for what it’s worth), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated that there were hundreds of thousands of criminal in their non-detain docket, aliens who DHS encountered but no longer in federal custody, the report states that 425,431 aliens were convicted criminals. Another 222,141 had pending charges against them. This includes more than 100,000 cases of assault, 70,000 selling dangerous drugs, 30,000 kidnappings, 20,000 for sexual assault, 17,000 burglaries, and 14,800 for homicide. (FAIR)

Speaking to Fox News, President Trump announced that if he’s elected, he will revoke humanitarian parole. This executive mandate, which can be done with the stroke of a pen and does not need Congressional oversight, would terminate the legal status of about a million migrants and force them to leave the U.S. Note: Trump has promised a lot of things when it comes to immigration and rarely delivered, so we’ll see. Her employer has sanctioned the University of Pennsylvania’s tenured professor Amy Wax for controversial remarks. Wax spent years under disciplinary proceedings and announced that it was suspending Wax for a year at half pay and stripping her of an endowed chair. The Washington Free Beacon reported that behind closed doors, the school was prepared to let Wax pay a much lower price—provided she stayed silent about her treatment. The quid pro quo was outlined in a draft settlement agreement presented to Wax in August, but she refused.

Back in 2015, Frederick County, Maryland’s school district made a chose to switch educational teaching styles, pairing with the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning in 2017. The change in teacher training focuses on multiple learning styles. It includes teacher training on understanding how memory works and its pivotal role in academic learning, creating classroom environments that reduce obstacles and distractions while maximizing student memory, and developing effective ways to test whether students have learned the needed material. Nearly a decade later, the results are in, and third-grade students are seeing significant improvements in English Language Arts and math scores. On the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program test, it rose from 49.5 percent proficient in 2018 to 60 percent proficient in 2023 — 12 points above the state average. In math, students from disadvantaged groups have also seen steady gains. African-American third graders were 38 percent proficient in 2018 but rose to 43.8 percent by 2023; over five years, low-income Title I third graders slowly grew from 32 to 37.6 percent proficient. (The 74 Million)

Holmes County, Ohio, is set to become the first Amish majority county in America, and many Amish parents are now sending their children to public school. District schools in the region have had to make changes now that several schools exclusively cater to Amish students, including ditching The Pledge of Allegiance and having a morning prayer. The school’s administration works with an Amish Advisory Board to ensure the curriculum meets the community’s needs. Lesson plans must align with Amish beliefs, meaning evolution is not mentioned during science class. Homework is never assigned unless necessary to avoid conflicting with the chores and farm work many Amish children do after school. (Medium)

The tech company Telegraph, which allowed users to send encrypted messages to each other, has made a significant policy change. The company will now share users’ IP addresses and phone numbers with law enforcement authorities.
