Senator JD Vance has introduced new legislation to crack down on illegal aliens who overstay their visas. The bill would fine illegal aliens up to $15,000 if they ignore immigration law and overstay their visas. (Fox News)
Rep. Matt Gaetz has introduced the End Birthright Citizenship Fraud Act of 2023, which would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to state that birthright citizenship only applies to U.S.-born children of legal American citizens. (Florida Voices)
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a law allowing illegal immigrants to become police officers and sheriffs. So in Illinois, illegal aliens will be allowed to arrest American citizens. (The Center Square)

The Department of Homeland Security announced they have ramped up removals of illegal aliens since Title 42 was lifted. That’s up 65 percent since the same period last year. Immigration activists were quick to note that the Department’s numbers were smoke and mirrors because they’ve created more avenues for migrants to declare asylum and enter the U.S. legally, awaiting a court date sometime in the next few years. During the same period, the number of migrants entering the U.S. with children has nearly tripled. (NBC News) The Obama Administration changed the classification of deportations, claiming anyone turned away at the border was deported to make numbers seem much higher than they were. Biden is also gaming the data to make him look tough on enforcement.
The New York Times noted in their story about migration numbers dropping that “migration toward the United States has shown little sign of abating — an indication that many more migrants plan to show up at the border in the coming weeks.”
The number of migrants apprehended at the Mexican border in June reached its highest in two decades. The number of migrants coming to the U.S. in the fall could eclipse the amount that went during the Spring.
New York State awarded two Texas-based contractors $800 million to create temporary shelter for all the migrants heading to the Empire State. (The Times Union)
Breitbart News reported that more than 60 percent of migrants who have arrived in New York City since the Spring of last year remain in taxpayer-funded shelters across the city. The city plans to erect tent cities in some areas around the five boroughs.
Judge Jon Tigar, an Obama appointee who regularly rules on the side of open border groups, blocked Biden’s transit ban for illegal aliens attempting to cross the border. Tigar issued a similar ruling against the Trump Administration. (Axios)
Gov. Greg Abbott’s border policies could be working. According to Border Report, apprehensions were down 50 percent in the El Paso Sector in June compared to May. The numbers in the Rio Grande Valley plummeted by almost 70 percent. Most migration has moved to Arizona, where the Democrat governor has taken a less restrictive policy.
