United States
Immigration
According to Breitbart News, 17 Senate Republicans signed a letter sent to President Joe Biden demanding his administration raise the number of foreign workers brought in to the U.S. on H2-B visas, despite there being 12 million unemployed Americans who are willing to work. Furthermore, the letter asked the administration to speed up the process of approving pending H2-B visas applications. As noted by the writer of the article, John Binder, the likely impact, if this policy were to be implemented, would be the replacement of American workers in blue-collar jobs such as “construction, landscaping, the tourism industry, and other occupations.”
The 17 Republicans who signed the letter are:
Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), James Risch (R-ID), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Crapo (R-ID), John Thune (R-SD), Susan Collins (R-ME), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Rand Paul (R-KY), John Barrasso (R-WY), and Tim Scott (R-SC)
More importantly, this is done at the same time a Gallup poll (which I’ll cover below) shows more Republicans want to reduce legal immigration than ever. It is astounding that five years after Trump came down that escalator and declared America was in decline because of mass immigration, Republican Senators are doubling down on the need for more mass immigration.
