Several Republican Senators are working with Democrats to negotiate a deal that would give millions of illegal aliens amnesty. Idaho’s Sen. Mike Crapo is working with Democrat Sen. Bennett to finalize another version of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act to provide green cards to as many as 2.1 million illegal aliens. House Republicans Mike Simpson, Dan Newhouse, and Doug LaMalfa also support the deal, NPR reported.
Big blue cities are finally feeling the pressure of the border crisis. Washington D.C.’s Mayor Bowser and New York City’s Eric Adams have said that their homeless shelters are being overcrowded with migrants who are coming in an endless stream across the border. Both mayors have blamed the governors of Texas and Arizona, who have bused migrants from the border to progressive areas like New York and Washington. While I believed the busing program was mostly a publicity stunt, this may make some Democrats put pressure on the Biden Administration to do something when it comes to the border. However, it’s more likely to ask for additional funds from the federal government to deal with the mass migration problem. We’ll see how it goes, but on optics alone, this is very good for Republicans. (The New York Post)
NBC News reported that President Biden successfully got Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to commit $1.5 billion to infrastructure projects along the border to stop crime and migrants. This will not include any wall funding but “smart technology,” this way, our border patrol will be able to watch illegals and drugs come across the border from a drone.
