Immigration
A report by Axios found that the government projects that by September, the number of illegal aliens living in the U.S. under legal limbo has increased by 167 percent from five years ago. From three million in 2019 to eight million in 2024. This includes people who have been ordered to be deported or who don't have final decisions from U.S. officials on their asylum or other immigration cases — but who aren't being held in the limited available detention space. The addition of two million more migrants till election day is going to add intense pressure on already cash-strapped cities in blue states as well as federal border agents. It will also increase pressure on Congress to do something or for the President to act alone, which he has the power to do. The most important point is that this will get worse before it gets better.
