President Biden will continue in the tradition of every president since Carter and build more barriers at the southern border. According to NBC News, the Biden Administration announced they’re closing the gaps in the Yuma, Arizona section of the border wall because too many migrants are slipping through them. This comes after Biden swore to voters that not one more foot of border wall would be completed under his administration.
The Biden Administration is planning on offering illegal aliens waiting for their final immigration court hearing temporary ID cards to make it easier for them to access housing, transportation, and other benefits. (Axios)
The number of “gotaways,” those illegal aliens who avoided being detected by border patrol agents and entered the interior of the US, has exceeded 500,000 in the fiscal year 2022. Since the fiscal year 2021, the number has been over 900,000. (The New York Post)
Several members of the Biden Administration are pushing back on the idea of quickly ending Trump’s Remain in Mexico, The Washington Post reports. One part is the fear that if they mishandle the situation, states like Texas will sue the Administration and get another hold placed by lower courts.
Republicans in Congress unveiled their plans for the border called American Security Task Force border policies. The plan is surprisingly good considering Rep. Katko (NY) headed the organization, and he has a long history of supporting amnesty. Some key planks include building the border wall, changing the asylum process, enacting nationwide e-verify, and keeping Remain in Mexico.
CBS News reported that the Biden Administration has fulfilled its pledge to accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees since late February. Breitbart News also reported that Biden had extended Temporary Protective Status to 7,400 Syrian refugees, extending their stay in the US.
