President Biden offered Temporary Protective Status (TPS) to nearly 500,000 migrants from Venezuela. This will allow migrants to legally work and live in the U.S., without fears of being deported. The move came after pressure from donors and New York Democrats to do something to allow some of the 100,000 migrants in NYC to work. (NBC News) Another presidential administration can revoke TPS, but rarely is. The last time a President withdrew was in 2017 for Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea, dealing with an Ebola breakout three years prior. As of March 31st, more than 600,000 people in the U.S. have TPS. (Breitbart News)

Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar said during an interview on MSNBC that sending the military to the border is a waste of time and money. “I’m looking at your split screen here and seeing DPS. We’re seeing Border Patrol. We’re seeing that they’re talking about sending more military folks there. And are they — they’re just helping folks come in? Look at what we’re seeing right now. You’ve got to have a policy where you return people back. You’ve got to do that. Otherwise, people are going to keep coming. If you don’t detain people if you don’t send people back, then the border becomes a speed bump,” Cuellar said. (Breitbart News)
The Financial Times reported that the Mexican cartel employs an estimated 185,000 people and draws in weekly recruits. This is more people than currently work at Google. The Wall Street Journal gave an in-depth report on how the Biden Administration rapidly increased the number of foreign-born workers. This year, a Goldman Sachs analysis found that average monthly growth in the foreign-born labor force is about 65,000 higher compared with 2022 on a seasonally adjusted basis. After plunging at the start of the pandemic, the size of the foreign-born labor force has rebounded, nearing 32 million people in August. Biden also increased the number of guest worker visas granted to over a million. Still, The WSJ admits that increasing the number of foreign workers will not be able to reduce inflation or labor shortages.
