A cornerstone of American foreign policy for decades is bipartisan and unwavering support for Israel. No matter if a Republican or Democrat is in the White House, no matter if they sell military technology to China or spy on the president. The most “anti-Israel” president, Barack Obama, condemned Israeli settlers in the West Bank, crafted the Iran Deal, and abstained from a UN vote that condemned Israeli settlements but still offered a $38 billion 10-year aid package.
The terrorist attacks on October 7th may have changed all that.
While it’s clear to anyone with two eyes and a functioning brain that Hamas is a terrorist organization and responsible for any civilian deaths incurred during Israel’s military response, the far left is not working with either.
In a House vote to stand with Israel against Hamas, nine Democrats voted no, and another six voted present, including “The Squad’s” Reps. Bowman, Bush, Casar, Carson, Castro, Garcia, Green, Jayapal, Lee, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Pressley, Ramirez, Talib, and Velázquez.
Another bill to condemn the rise of antisemitism in the United States and around the globe saw 13 Democrat members (mostly the same ones) vote no and a shocking 105 vote present or not at all. A minority of House Democrats voted to condemn the rise of antisemitism.
Despite years of the media insisting that antisemitism was on the rise among rank-and-file Republicans because of their criticism of George Soros-backed district attorneys, American politicians on the left have never been this bold in their open antisemitism.
There are many reasons why this is happening. Mass immigration from Muslim countries has changed the demographics of the United States. Between 2007 and 2017, Pew Research estimates that the Muslim population in the United States increased by more than a million and will reach nearly 9 million by 2050.
And while mass immigration floods the U.S. with millions of Democrats that estate the state of Israel and the Jewish people, critical race theory rots the minds of young, woke students who believe all white people are inherently colonizers, including Jews.
While this will continue to play out in the public discourse for probably decades to come, it will also be vitally important in the upcoming 2024 elections.
