Georgia was the closest state in the 2020 election, with just 11,779 votes separating Trump and Biden.
With the election being so close, there were many beliefs as to why Trump failed to win a traditionally Republican state, including the growth of the black population in metro Atlanta, suburbanites moving away from the GOP, COVID-related changes to voting, ballot harvesting, and the theory that the election was rigged.
I’m not going to debate any of these points, but it’s easy to see how someone can come to these conclusions depending on their political vantage point.
However, one of the biggest reasons is that Biden districts came out to vote, and Trump districts didn’t. In particular, the turnout in five congressional districts will decide how the election will turn out in 2024.
